Description:
Project GaiaRay (プロジェクト・ガイアレイ) is a Action/Fighting/Third Person Shooter video game published by Shoeisha released on October 23rd, 1997 for the Sony PlayStation (PSX).
If you always wanted to play Virtual On on your PS1 (or now PSP) but couldn’t because it was only for Sega Saturn, well you’re in luck ’cause this is a straight-up clone of VO for the PS1. It’s so much of a clone down to mech designs and stage layouts that Sega had every right to sue them ? – but probably didn’t since the game was only released in Japan under the bland name Project GaiaRay. Anyway it’s a 1-on-1 mech fighter, where you use 3 attacks and 2 defensive abilities (along with the new “charge” mechanics that wasn’t in Virtual On) to fight your opponent and keep him in your lock-on sight. It might be a clone of a classic game, but it has all the elements that made Virtual On a must-play.
