Description:

Sweet Fuse: At Your Side is a Visual Novel video game published by Aksys Games released on August 28th, 2013 for the PlayStation Portable.

Review by NoonebutMark:

NoonebutMark avatarFrom Kyoto back in the Edo Period to the Amusement Park owned by the creator of Megaman. The PSP has a large amount of visual novels aimed at girls called “otome”, but only two of them are localized. The two of otome games I speak of are Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom (which is a recommended game!) and Sweet Fuse: At Your Side. Although there’s a Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 3rd Story Premium translated by awesome people, the game is in a different category of visual novels.

Story:

This game is about Saki Inafune who is going to attend the opening of his uncle’s amusement park but when a pig named Count Hogstein ruins the fun, he/she kidnaps all the audience including Saki’s uncle. Although, Count Hogstein wants more fun and puts 6 men and Saki for 7 day video game attraction challenge. They must pass through all the contraptions or the amusement park will go ka-boom. Will she be able to free her uncle and the rest of audience? Will she also find love?

The story is fun and gives the reader awesome time reading.

Character:

When I watched the trailer of this game, I saw that the some of the men were older than the protagonist. They should have made them young looking because when I first saw them, I thought there will be no chemistry. But I was wrong, the men, though old looking they may be, are quite interesting to talk with. What I also liked is that the characters have this secrets in them that made them cooler. The minor characters though were lacking in an aspect, they weren’t annoying nor were they lovable.

About Saki, she really has no backstory except that she is the niece of the famous Megaman creator. I got disappointed because of that. But her personality shines in this game.

Gameplay:

Why is there a gameplay review of this game even though it is just text-based, you ask? Well this game incorporated a feature that copies an Ace Attorney kind of deduction. Though it is in a lower-tier than AA, it complements that game and adds greatness to the game

Sound:

The opening song is so cool and the ending song is lovely. The BGM played between the scenes are playable in the main menu which is amazing.

Replayability:

The story won’t be clear by just playing one route. All routes must be played to see the truth. All the routes can be completed with the average RPG amount of playtime of 25 to 30 hours. The game as whole has no replayibility value since you’ll just see the same thing over and over again and there’s the rewind feature.

Overall:

If you had played Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom and loved it, play this game right now.

PLAY IT NOW!

This game deserves a 8/10 Rating
