Review by skywind08:

skywind08 avatar“Professor Layton and the Curious Village” is a puzzle and a bit adventure game, which is the only series I have ever finished. This is the first game from the Professor Layton series, and the sequel is “Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box”.

The story is about Professor Layton and his beloved apprentice Luke, searching an artifact called “Golden Apple” from a village called St. Mystere. Apparently, the people in St. Mystere like puzzles and you are required to solve it for information and fun, which will lead you to the artifact and the secrets of the village.

The gameplay is just answering the puzzles with your stylus, reading the dialogues and cut-scenes. And since sometimes the puzzles are hard, you can use hint coins scattered around in the village which you have to click on a suspicious object (Or just click anywhere until you get it). There are many types of puzzles to solve and an infinite time to use, so take your time and solve all the puzzles.

What I like about this game is not just the puzzles or the story, but also the soundtrack. It’s just so beautiful (Especially the Professor Layton main theme, love it) to the point you want to replay the game again. So you like puzzles? and beautiful music? well, this is your game…

I spend my days following the ROM hacking scene, searching for cool hacks and translations of old games that were left in Japan. All translation and hacking credits go to their respective authors. Neither I nor anyone at CDR translates games.
